Supermoon Lunar Eclipse 2015 Photos

I have tried many times to capture the moon and stars, and always seem to fail miserably. That is until I invested in a new low aperture lens and captured the Northern lights in Iceland and a wondrous sky in in Australia. Capturing the moon however is a different story, especially when it is high in the sky. I really need a telescopic with the capacity of my low aperture lens, but just don’t have the money.

So the Lunar Eclipse was due last night, and having missed the moons rise in the early evening I was determined to at least see this amazing event. So I got up at 1.30 am last night to see the moon clearly shining – but nothing had happened – I was disappointed to say the least.IMG_4130

I decided to check again later around 2.30am, and I was SO happy I did. Hope you like what I was able to capture.    IMG_4141 IMG_4149IMG_4157 IMG_4215 IMG_4212

  1. Beautiful pictures! i was able to watch it around 11:00pm last night where I live. It was really beautiful, I only wish I had binoculars or a telescope to see the orange better.

  2. Amazing! You’re very lucky to have had a clear sky, we were in the perfect zone but ended up with COMPLETE cloud cover! Thank you for sharing these, it was an awesome event.

  3. You really manage to catch the moon this time … beautiful shots. I suppose if I had remembered to stay up during the night I would have seen my supermoon go red too, but I totally forgotten and I would have been to tired for staying up the whole night. Excellent job here. It’s so hard to make the moon justice.
